Last season I went out on a limb and said that it was going to have the best programming ever. Well, I’m afraid that I’m going to have to go out on that same limb: this summer is going to be incredible!
We open with not one but TWO of the most famous pieces of music ever composed: Bruch’s passionate Violin Concerto and Beethoven’s iconic
Fifth Symphony. The second week pairs some of Mozart’s most amazing vocal music with Gustav Mahler’s vision of heaven. Switching gears, week three presents a multimedia extravaganza exploring Aaron Copland’s time in Mexico and the colorful, urban, ethnic, edgy sounds of Revueltas. Next, in week four, our Composer Portrait presents the music of the young, superstar composer Huang Ruo who will also sing in Chinese! And Dan Perkins, the Festival Chorus and four vocal soloists will perform Haydn’s inspiring Lord Nelson Mass. Finally, with week five we say a powerful farewell through the music of three great Russian composers: Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov. This program is guaranteed to drive you out of your skulls!
While this five-concert series forms the core of the Festival’s activity, our popular Tuesday night Chamber Music Series continues to provide an intimate opportunity to experience the individual talents of the members of the orchestra. And we are expanding. Last summer we brought chamber music to Wolfeboro for the first time, and this summer we will be adding two concerts of the full orchestra. There will be more of our unique Music in the Mountains events and we will continue to present a Family Concert, host Make Music Plymouth and connect music and coffee with our Caffeinated Classics!

But most of all, enjoy!
